We've been very busy here at Fiskars in the last few weeks. We had a huge 360 birthday celebration in Orlando with some of our biggest fans (see the custom orange ears). We also caught up with some of your favorite designers and taped the second half of Season 4 for FiskarsTV. Last week our team travelled to Baltimore to complete our 3rd community garden makeover of the year, and we transformed a desolate piece of land into a lush, thriving garden in just a day! What else has happened this year? To stay in closer touch with you this year, we launched Fiskars Facebook and Twitter. You got to see the world's number 1 scissors cut down the net at the NCAA tournament back during March Madness, you've seen Dwight and Michael use them on The Office, and now you are probably seeing our orange-handled cuties helping with fashion efforts on the new season of Project Runway. Wow, like I said, we've been busy! Now we're working on our consumer shows, events, and plans for 2010, and we'd love to hear YOUR thoughts. What should Fiskars do in 2010 that would surprise and delight you?
How about something like the garden remakes with classrooms (school supplies and crafting supplies for the teacher...nominate a deserving teacher type thing? Also maybe a traveling "craft trailer" I remembered when my kids where much younger, hallmark had this semi truck that would come to different cities, park the truck and then you went to different stations inside the double wide trailer. There were different things to do in it....I think it would be fun to promote crafting with something like this.

Everything Fiskars does delights me so just keep on doing what you already do!

A shop hop in the midwest as in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan , and Wisconsin area. I would love to meet a Lead fiskateer at some point.

I think it would be fun to have video tutorials on the make and takes that are done at different events. Thanks for asking.

I have loved hearing about all of the adventures that have taken place recently! I would love to see a shophop for Wisconsin or maybe a madison wisconsin crop where the leads could visit??
I love all that Fiskars plans, so keep up the great work!

I would love to see more "how to" videos too..either FiskarsTV or otherwise.
I'd also like to see some sort of event here in NE Ohio!
I like Betsy's idea of a rollin' craft trailer too!
I'll have to give it some more thought!

Have a Fiskar Special Rack at Joann's/Michael's and the other big stores.
Have Fiskar make project Idea Handout's like the one's Joann's has..some simple project ideas and add that to their rack ..So people can pick those up and see what they can do with Fiskar Products...

Have a Fiskar's Walk-a-Thon in the major cities! Everybody wear's orange or something else if it is for breast cancer or something of the sort!

There are so many fine charities out there; Having super crops around the country that raise money for the favorite local charity of the local fiskateers would be great.

I LOVE Betsy's idea (as long as it comes through my hometown!)
I am already so impressed with Fiskars since becoming a Fiskateer.
Being on the West coast I sometimes feel left out. I'd love to make it to the warehouse sale...but I don't think that is possible. How about an online warehouse sale??? THAT would be AMAZING.
Something that I think would be awesome is customizable scissors. We love Fiskars...so we love the classic orange handles...but how about the option of getting one pink handle and one purple handle? Or maybe the awesome orange and green handles? Maybe black and white? I would think that offering just the classic styles of scissors (#5 and #8, mainly) in "personalized" color options would be GREAT.

I think they need to plan some fun events in the Pacific NW like a big city like Portland. I would LOVE to attend a Fiskars event.!!

I love Betsy's idea of a Fiskars Craftmobile--that would garner attention.
I also love Fiskars TV. You have a lovely set but have you ever gone "on location"--to a featured crafter's studio or Fiskars retailer's store--to present a project or technique? Not every time but maybe once a quarter would be fun and interesting. I know you pack a lot into your segments but maybe you could do 2 segments that month(both available for the entire month). It would have been great to see Traci's studio and all 5 of her spring action #8's. I own a pair, too, LOl!

Invite Fiskateers to join in on a garden make over in each state. I'd love to help!

I would be so thrilled if there was a Fiskars/Fiskateer event that was a drivable distance from me.
Maybe you could send the leads out more often. It would make everybody happy if one of the leads could visit each state next year. I know it's not very practical, but it would make everybody happy.
Set a Fiskars Day up so that a CFD could do make & takes or meet & greets at all the JoAnns & Michaels. That would really get the word out about how great Fiskars products are & promote the Fiskateers. In the spring do the same thing at Home Depot & Wal-Mart etc. for the garden tools. There are some fantastic garden tool out there that most people aren't aware of.

Similar to Betsy's idea . . . Lil' Davis did a road trip a few years back and stopped at different locations . . . did make and takes all across the West Coast. How about a road trip stopping at all kinds of points throughout the country doing make and takes and having Su . . . Fiskars tv celebrity as the mc/host! Would love that.

I would love to see a pair of Fiskars scissors go up in space. The Space Shuttle only has about a half dozen more launches before it's retired and they begin using rockets (that's if the space program isn't cut all together). But space technology and advancement not only helps us in space but here on earth as things have been developed like material for open heart surgery, etc.) But I'd love to see a pair of orange handled scissors since they are such a part of our every day life and such an advancement in technology go up in space! How cool would that be?

Some great ideas posted here by my fellow Fiskateers. I've been thinking about this request for a day or so and haven't come up with any unique ideas. Any events in the Michigan area would be greatly appreciated.

I love the Fiskars efforts. I would prefer if in 2010 you could do more regional events like took place in 2008. It is hard for some of us to travel to a single event with limited seating with all our Fiskateer friends. This way if there are multiple venues, there is always one that is managable to get to and allows for more Fiskateers to benefit.

Hi..ty for asking us...I too would love some events in MI...our state does have 29% unemployment...and most of our LSS have closed...sad but tru. But..we have a new Hobby Lobby and many Joanns and Michael stores here as well as a couple Archivers. But..I still can't find products of yours I WANT and NEED..eg that umbrella punch! More product here would be great!Love the videos...please do more...you don't have to do a give away on them all the time if cost is an issue. But..everyone I know has AT LEAST one pair of your scissors...like what nut would buy any other brand? I recently chatted with several women at Hobby Lobby...none of them knew about Fiskateers...so I informed...I am sure you will get at least 6 new requests (tho 2 of them were not from MI)...is there a finder's fee? lol..just kidding! Love telling folks about this group...Maybe we should have a nice tshirt that you all create that we can buy to advertise the group...a cut to go to a nice charity (mostly women affected)...tshirts are cheap but think of all the nice things we could put on them? I just love every product I own...and I know everyone I know does too! So please keep making great products! If there was ever a way to let us non-locals purchase the way some of you have at these huge sales...I would be thrilled! Paypal is easy and successful..I still find navigation of the site less than easy...maybe a webmaster could help with that...just my 2 cents...Cher 5859

What could be really cool, along with the other great ideas up there...I've been thinking for acouple of days and thought...what we all love to do best is a cropping weekend....maybe have your leads, and nifty 50's host them in different areas on the same weekend....even get the other countries involved too...you have ambassadors in countries around the world...just a thought if i think of anything else i will be back lol.

I would like to see more Fiskars TV and more giveaways. I love being able to sign up and win things...although it seems like I never win anything! LOL Just the chance see great. I would love to get my hands on a pink pair of scissors from Fiskars....I haven't seen any!

How about a Fiskars e-zine or quarterly magazine that has all the projects for the previous 3 months in it (or new ones that weren't shown on t.v.)--this would be great for people who missed the show or want print instructions for projects.
In the publication you could run contests that feature use of a particular tool, prize drawings (increase your mailing database), run a letters to the editor column with questions on use of Fiskars tools, the Fiskateers could have a columm, and an "Introduction to the Fiskateers" could be included as a regular part of the message.
As suggested, you could set up workshops at some of the retail outlets (like JoAnn's & Michael's), but you should also consider holding special events at smaller scrapbook shops in cities that don't have a Michael's or JoAnn's available to them.
The pre-publicity for this could include an application process for stores with a query: "Why should Fiskars come to YOUR scrapbook store?" "What makes your town interesting enough to bring Fiskars to town?"
If a store isn't selected, you could use the contact information for that store as a base for increasing your sales/marketing effort. And, if there's a Nifty Fifty or Fiskateers leader within a certain radius of travel distance, you could have that Fiskars representative set up a smaller scale workshop for the area.
