I do love a good party. I am currently gearing up for our Annual Halloween Bash, so Fiskateer Wendy Jo sent me this image for inspiration. They are super cute treat bags featuring the new Halloween line from Li'l Davis. Fun stuff for easy crafting! But tonight, I am working on another party. We are hosting an event for the entire high school football team after the varsity game. The bash doesn't get started until 10:30--yikes--that's usually my bedtime. I already baked 4 football cakes--really easy--just used the Wilton oval pan and added the chocolate icing and laces. We're setting up the big outdoor screen so they can watch the game over again in the back yard. The pool, the lanterns, the fire pit, the outdoor films--should make for a pretty cool football party. Anyway, just wanted to announce the winners before I finish preparing the massive amounts of food they will need, so new sewing scissors are going to Pinky, Kristin in OH and Mama Karen. Wild, wild Walker
This is my middle son--born to be wild--without a doubt. He lives for the thrill--quite different from my other two kids. He has broken 5 bones already, he started diving into the deep end of the pool as a toddler, and he secretly signed himself up for skydiving lessons when he was 9 (luckily I found out). Since he was two, people have been saying, "I can't wait to see that kid when he's a teenager," and now he is. Poor me! His latest sport is ski jumping. He started last night. What have your kids done to give you grey hair?
Sewing for tweens
Crafting has always been a huge interest for my daughter. She keeps progressing through many forms of various crafts, and this summer, I was very pleased when she wanted to learn to knit (although the dog is not crazy about the beanie she recently made for it to wear). Anyway, now she is really into developing her sewing skills. She is 11, and I guess sleepovers are only as cool as the sleep pants you wear! For any of you out there who have tweens, just wanted you to know that this little pattern I picked up at JoAnn's over the weekend is a great one to start someone sewing. She did it all alone--from cutting out the two-piece pattern to stitching the three seams required--front curve, back curve and then one continuous inner leg seam. She made 4 pairs of sleep pants last week--including one to give as a birthday present. Are you passing down your love of crafting? If you were walking through your favorite JoAnn's Fabric store and thought you saw Heidi Grace fabric, I am here to tell you that your eyes were not deceiving you! Some of your favorite Heidi Grace lines are now fabric. The quilt above was made with Midnight Kisses.
