My daughter's birthday was Thursday, and I whipped up this quick cake at work during my lunch break for our family dessert that night (party to come next weekend). It's a replica of her dog (a cross between a Maltese and a Bichon). For a super fast puppy cake, you can make it out of two frozen pound cakes--one is the body, and one cut into slices can be the legs, head and ears. Twinkies made the paws and tail. The face was a little tricky. I cut the tongue from a Fruit Roll up (just using my Fiskars scissors). The eyes are Hershey kisses (with the point side in), and this is probably cheating, but because they did not look quite right, I added black Cloud 9 Raindots to the middle for pupils. Make sure you don't let anyone eat those!! The nose is a little Hershey nugget that I carved into the right shape with a craft knife. Tami, in the graphics team, called me the MacGyver of baking! Anyway, it is a fun way to make a really easy quick cake.
